my sweet tooth

Went out to dinner after work with Risa and Kumiko (from work). Had Mexican food with huge Margaritas sitting outside in Ginza. I love summer!For dessert, Kumiko took us to Okame, a Japanese dessert place.My favorite.I had mattcha anmitsu with shirotama - a bowl of jelly squares made from seaweed with mochi balls and adzuki beans, green tea ice cream and fruit...heaven...although still doesn't beat ujikikdoki (shaved ice with beans).I am sure I will blog that as it gets really hot.

Hey, I've got a question for you. Is the Mexican food in Japan, the traditional Mexican food you would find in Mexico or in the US? Or does Japan alter it to make it more their own?

I know it's a lame question, but it's something I've been curious about. Someone told me that the Japanese don't like the beans used in Mexican dishes, like refried beans, which are found in most dishes.

hmmm, the ujikikdoki sounds very interesting! shaved icecream? what kind of beans do they put in there?
i remember eating at texmex in tokyo and the taste was very good, though i didn't ate beans.

'Bout Mexican food here...at least the place we went to, they were actually trying to be all Tex Mex. Felt very much like an American place...huge servings, beans, nachos...not great quality but certainly was an experience in Ginza!
