Kamishibai

Having dinner at my parent's with their old friends, the Suetsugus. I took the opportunity to lug over a suitcase of all my spices and sauces that are leftover and I won't use before moving. Before dinner, Koko (Mrs. Suetsugu) did Kamishibai for us...old traditional story-telling. Apparently there are translated versions being sold in the U.S. and becoming popular...

I love your parents house (especially the orange walls!)

Wish I could have been there for the story telling.

I did kamishibai for my niece's 4th grade class in the US when I visited earlier this year. Storytelling is so much fun and the Japanese folktales are interesting. So much like the ones I knew growing up but different, too.

Dear Mie

I wondered if you would ever consider doing an event like this in Tokyo for foreign children. Is it possible to do this in English? Then foreign children can learn about Japanese folktales and customs in English.

I hope to hear from you
