We need some fun, right?

Here are examples of my phone's creativity. And yes, you can laugh at me. I'm laughing at myself. Note that I can't adjust the pics of me, so I had to take them to be 'in place' as close as I could. Pretty good, no? I even read the manual to see if I could shift my face a bit to fit, for example, the bear frame, but nope. Anyone know a trick?

Anyway, enjoy!!

Oh my god. That is so funny.

What the hell is that giant mole on your face in the 1st one? Oh wait, that's supposed to be the nose? Maybe the dialogue balloon should say "Hi! I've got a giant mole on my face!"

And what's that second one supposed to be? A beer drinking pig on a cold winter's day?

Does the kanji over the third one say "Ohhh! You sunk my NetBattleship!" ?

Ha ha. Toooo funny.

Certainly brightened my dark cloud day.
Can't offer any help on position the picture, I just try to move it side to side or nearer or further.

Excellent, I'm still laughing at it.... ahhh I'm here for two days now and as usual I have my eyes big open everywhere and look at the japanese way of life. I enjoy it.

re: giant mole- What the hell is that giant mole on your face....?
My first thoughts exactly, "Your cellphone can put a giant mole on someone's face? Cool. Does it do goiters?"

Mie, been enjoying reading your blog and the blogs you are linked to and the blogs they are linked to... dear god does it never end? Small wonder i just today realized 'mobblog' has nothing to do with mobs.

Not sure what is the etiquette in these comment things, so please forgive me if i am out-of-line. Okay if i ask a couple of questions?
1. Trying to discuss blogging with some of my japanese friends. As you are, I'm sure, aware, my Japanese is limited to "Biru!" and then "Toy-ray?" - can you or someone direct me to a couple of Japanese-only blogs, preferably about computers and/or music, so i can link to them and say, "See! That's what i'm talking about"?
2. Is there a Japanese version of blogger.com or livejournal.com?
3. Has anyone translated the MT manual into Japanese?

Again, please forgive me if i'm cluttering things up with painintheass questions, once you get to know me you'll find i'm a cuddly, lovable, PIA . I can be reached at james(at)edthecat.com without further clutter, unless, like me, you enjoy clutter, in which case i'll check back here.
Thanks
j

Say something about her beer-sotted pignose, we'll keep it on track. What's that thing on the fork? That is a fork, right? With some sort of bizarre digital bacon? A pig eating bacon? What's up with that? Hell, we can keep this thread going for awhile, we haven't even started with the disturbing 'climbing into cupid' picture.

thanks, Gen.
I think that link on your site will help. Curious that there's not a Japanese face on that page, eh? But this page defines blogging in Japanese, yes?
Thanks again,
j

OK, I gotta ask the technical questions, cause I'm a geek. When you take the decorated photos, do you see the overlay template when you're framing the shot (if you weren't taking it of yourself, of course)? Or do you just add it afterwards? And what's up with the short pics? Do certain decorations always make the photos smaller? Or is that some sort of bandwidth saving thing? If the decorations shrink a normal sized photo, does the phone have software that autodetects the face y-position (because I've noticed in all three of the short pics so far, the face was perfectly fit which seems to mean it's not just some cropping due to a transfer mistake)?

Oh, and I like the Beetle Bailey cussing in the sixth pic too :)

I'm glad my pics made y'all laugh!!

Gen, Thanks for helping out James. I regret to say I still don't know many Japanese sites and actually wanna start meeting Japanese bloggers.

Dav, the templates are set and can be brought up once you have a pic. So I had to try and get my face in the general vicinity where it was needed, take the pic, then call up the frame. I think you can make your own frames, but that'll be another story. What sucks is I can't shift the pic to the left/right or up/down so it's kind of off. It took a long time to get just those. The gunman was perfect and I yipped for joy when I got that. The cropped ones just come like that...like when Carsten (below) got cropped. Other than the frames, the last one just has various 'stamps' I could choose and place. I can do text too. There must be a way to put the text in the bear balloon thingy, but I couldn't make it happen and my patience ran out...

Hmm, seems softare could be written that automatically locates the face portion of the photo and matches it to a template. I looked around and found some excellent software that does great face identification. Unfortunately it is not open source. They have published some academic papers though, and it seems to involve building a neural network, which is something I've always wanted to do, so manybe I could get that working (if I had the time, ha).

hey j

btw, MT does have a japanese language install pack. You should be able to find it on their site.

lol Awwww, you are so funny and cute.
Er... I meant, you are so hot. Sorry. :D

Mie, Maby we can mark a place on the wall, take
a photo of it and then try the different frames,
to see where to stand, to take the photo, so it
fits the frame we choose. You were just in the
right spot on some of them.

Sounds like I should do another round of funny pics using...MY FACE!! Kuma, maybe this should be a collaborative effort; we can really get creative and laugh even more ; )

Posted by: Mie at June 2, 2003 07:39 PM

and tell a story. like, cupidmie shoot an arrow to kumamiechan, but missed and got butamiechan, who in turn fell in love with gangstamie, who holds a secret affair with OLmie!

Hilarious!

By the way, for the Japanese-challenged among us, the Kanji on the third picture actually say "Working overtime / staying late at work" :-)

This is great! I was just rereading everyone's comments from the tech questions, to the curiousity about the giant mole, to the pignose. *I* am laughing all over again. I gotta get more of these templates!!
