By the way, my phone can only email 5 pictures at a time. The first photo here continues from the house party...of Cameo and I.

On Sunday, I met with Mom and Dad at Ebisu for brunch at Good Honest Grub. They serve American style eggs benedict sort of dishes. I had a vege burger with hummus and kabocha paste. I can't live without Japanese food, but I also crave American style breakfasts! Soy lattes, smoothies, wheat bread...

Then walking home, we passed the famous Hinomaru Driving School - the one with that big round red ball sticking out of the building. But I'd never seen the building from this side angle. I swear, this IS a building.

And on the train home, I noticed a woman with crazy pointed cowboy/fashion boots that made her feet look twice as long. Looked uncomfortable as hell. And the woman standing close by had pretty insane heels too. I enjoy wearing heels, especially since I'm short, but only comfortable ones. Most of my shoes have thick soles...good for stomping around Tokyo. Alas, I'll never be one of those dainty ballerinas...

Don't worry, my girlfriend does ballet and hates high heels. So there's still hope for you.

Mie- do you have your blog set up so that when you email your pics to a certain address, they get put onto your blog automatically?

Curiously yours,

Thanks for the encouragement! It's just that body language/movement is so different here and I end up feeling 'loud' with my waving hands and relatively strong walking style (people have said they can tell I'm not Japanese just by the way I walk). I mean, it's me and I can't change that, but women here seem to try very hard not to take up space. Especially when I go dancing...my my my. I've done some tea ceremony lessons before - what a contrast. No wasteful movement there!

Yup. I take the pic, send it to my special blog email address, then simply log in to change text.

However, I mustn't take credit for setting it up this way. Dav, my boyfriend in SF, set everything up...even telling me about what a blog is in the first place. He wrote some code to get it all running, and is responsible for the layout and colors.

I feel like a lucky member of some special club...I'm really not a computer person and to get to play with this AND meet/hear people involved in similar stuff has been fascinating for me. If you have any questions, I can put you in touch with Dav.

Thanks Mie! I may bother you (and Dav) later this spring once I get settled in Tokyo and figure out my camera phone situation. I know Joi Ito's developed an easy way to do this too, so I may use his code.

Sure, looking forward to seeing you at the blog meeting too. Man, I can't wait for spring. It's cooooold now! But I see you're in NY so must be even colder. What brings you to Tokyo anyway?
