So my friends arrived and we were hanging out. Then one of the upstairs residents, who just got back from Niigata, dropped off an omiyage gift: a kabocha and a goya. Then a different guy came running down cuz his wife was in labor and they were heading for the hospital...and according to Kyoko, a natural place that will let you eat the placenta if yno want. I have never heard of that but apparently it is VERY good for the woman, health-wise.Makes sense. Congrats!

There is an 'eeww' factor, perhaps because of the cannibalism taboo, but it's not like we're eating Pygmies here. Most maternity wards sell placenta to drug companies to be fed back to us as medicine. And who am I to argue ethics with the medical community?

I'm working on a placenta ceviche recipe, which i think might be quite tasty, problem is, fresh placenta is hard to find. You can't just get it clingwrapped on styrofoam in the local Tokyu grocery, you know.
So if anyone has a fresh placenta or two handy, let me know. You're welcome to dinner, especially if you bring the wine.
